.350 | to My Body, from Me

Dear Body,

As we approach 40 years together I want say something I’ve never said to you; I am grateful for you. When we started together, I learned how to use you and what I could do with you. We kept going and we kept growing. Then I criticized you for years. Too tall, too big, too thick. Too much. No matter the amount of insults I’ve silently hurled at you, through all of the times prodded and poked at your squishy parts; all of the sucked in, tucked in and stuffed in days and nights trying to make me, us, fit in-you were there. I’ve criticized and demonized you, and for that I apologize. We’ve experienced love and loss, abundance and abuse, anxiety and elation. We have been through some shit, haven’t we?

We still have a lot to do (big things) so I promise to be more grateful for you, listen to you and treat you with the strength, resilience and consistency you’ve given me.

Here’s to more shit, more fun, more family and more pizza.

Love,
Somebody with a body
